“Absolutely stunning! I had just finished the Dungeon Crawler Carl series right before reading this, so it took me a chapter or two to mentally adjust to the different writing style, but once I did….magic. I’m not overly familiar with East Asian stories, but you have me wanting to dive deeper.
Most books - and I read a lot - I consider to be entertainment. Something to take my mind off of life and its struggles. Authors such as Lee Child, Michael Connelly, Matt Dinninman. Excellent writers all. They help me escape. But what you’ve created surpasses entertainment and escapism. It’s art. I don’t have the words to describe the difference. I’ve felt a similar way when I finished Demon Copperhead, Mistborn, Assasin’s Apprentice. The worlds from those books became so vivid in my mind. I could feel them. Just as I could feel walking barefoot in the snow and the leaves and the roof edges. The blade tip on my ribs.

“Prepare to be immersed in a world of visual beauty, intrigue, complex characters and heart-stopping action. From the opening scene I was CAPTURED in the mystery and SWEPT into the story - that’s the only way I can describe how it felt. Belinda wove those chains into my reading heart and bound me into the story so vividly I could picture every scene with sweeping imagery and intricate detail. And, of course, Belinda is a master of the action scene, so I was cringing, ducking and biting my lips 🫦 when the tale spun in that direction.
Were all of my questions answered? No way! I feel I have only scratched the surface of the mysteries of Nai, the intrigue of the realm/s and the mechanisms of the hierarchical systems. I need the next book, Belinda!”

The story develops well. Above all, I love the gradual character development. Slow but not too slow - and very steady. The author has such a way in developing characters with deep inner strength and complex backgrounds.
The quality of the author’s writing is top-notch. So much depth in her descriptions, the flow of action and the inner workings of characters, bringing you into the character in the world.

Told from multiple POV, with the main character Nai, or that is the name chosen for her at this point, having lost her memory and her powers internally chained and smothered by an unknown source.
With the assistance of a crow guide and the spirit of a slain warrior, she attempts to free herself from the shackles within and seek the truth of who she really is.
The poetic language, detail, and epic creatures in this story will have you immersed in an icy grip, craving more and seeking the truth just as much as Nai and her unusual fantastical guardians. I mean a black lion with five tails, a white feathered dragon with pearlescent horns, and a dual winged feathered beast with paws? Yes, please!”
